Kindergarten – Second Grade
Mt. Moriah Christian Academy offers a multicultural, multilevel classroom experience. Our Kindergarten through Second Grade Program provides a safe, friendly environment for children to develop socially, spiritually and academically. Our classroom capacity of 12 students ensures each child receives high quality, individualized attention.
The K-2 Classroom has been designed with stimulating color, and creative organizational structure to enhance the learning process for our lively youngsters.
Our curriculum and approach to life is Christ-centered to promote a learning experience which enhances each child’s individual character and personality development.
Our history program provides an introduction to community helpers (police, fire and medical) and the beginnings of American history. It features countries around the world, and simple geography. We have taken field trips to enhance these experiences including the local fire department, community farms, and even overnight trips (with Mom and Dad, too) to Sturbridge Village in Massachusetts. We also have lunches which include trying new foods from the countries we are studying.
We introduce our students to how their body works and the importance of taking care of it. We also focus on discoveries of the animal and plant world, energy, force, and friction and how to enjoy the air around us. We also learn about the stars and planets.
We have taken field trips to local science museums as well as museums and the aquarium in Boston. The Bronx Zoo is also one of our favorite places for a day of discovery and adventure.
Our students are introduced to addition, subtraction, and multiplication of numbers as well as problem solving and graphing. Students are introduced to time, money, measurement, and map skills. We begin learning about fractional parts and finding perimeters as well.
