Third through Fifth Grade
Our Elementary 3rd-5th grade program focuses on nurturing the whole child: spiritually, academi-cally, socially and physically. We desire to prepare students for the challenges that lie ahead and equip them to become leaders in body, mind, character and spirit. We strive to maintain a quality academic environment by review-ing, embellishing and improving our curriculum. We teach, not just for the next test, but for a lifetime.
Field Trips are a key component of our grade level instruction; they broaden the educational experience and make a subject more relevant. Field Trips enrich and expand the cur-riculum, strengthen observation skills by immersing our students into sensory activities, increase knowledge in a particular subject area and expand students’ awareness of their own community.
Our upper Elementary level (3-5) is always willing to accept help from parents in many parts of the school program. There are many areas that have been adeptly served by parents.
The key focus of upper Elementary grades is helping students develop study skills and work habits for a successful transition to secondary school. Accountability is the key and is required in daily class readiness and participation, weekly tests, and the completion of long term assignments and projects. We also work to develop purposeful writing skills.
Our upper Elementary students (3-5) use curriculum that meets the New York State Department of Education’s content standards while incorporating Biblical truths in each of our classes.
Our math curriculum is Envision Math. Students use math games, manipulatives, and interactive whiteboard lessons to reinforce concepts.
Wordly Wise is used to help students excel in reading comprehension, flu-ency, writing, spelling and vocabulary. Small guided reading groups are differentiated so every child can be challenged in his/her school environment. We use the A Beka curriculum for science. Through hands-on activities, reading, discussions and experiments, students grasp important science concepts and begin to understand the need for critical thinking. For Social Studies, our students use A Beka curriculum. Students discover the History of America and the State of New York. Emphasis is also placed on learning United States and international geography.
0ur students immerse themselves in God’s Word in partnership with Bible curriculum.
It is our goal to educate minds for an ever-changing world while shepherding hearts for eternity.
