Oh, How Father Loves You
The Christmas season has not always been such a great time for me. Don’t get me wrong, I love everything about it. It’s just that I have memories that have marked me from that season that I will carry for the rest of my life. You see, my Dad died a few days before Christmas when I was only five years old. He died from Lou Gehrig’s disease. So, the smells, tastes, and even the sounds of the carols trigger well-worn memories, as well as some that I have unknowingly repressed.
Now having explained a little about Christmas and me, I want to tell you how Father God has healed me. He immediately stepped into my life, even though I didn’t easily recognize Him or His great love for me as my father, when my father passed. Father God was there all the time. I can say today that because of His extravagant love and intimate care for me right down to the minutest detail of my life, He has been the father that has never failed me, not even once. There’s a verse in the book of Isaiah that says “His gentleness has made me great.” I am a witness of that. Father has gently healed my broken and bruised heart over the years, just at the right time and in the right place. I have often asked myself, “How does He do that so well?” He’s God, He’s my Father, my awesome, loving, caring, gentle Father.
Christmas at this stage of my life, is not as hard as it used to be, because of His great love and careful care for me. He is continuously healing me. I write this for those who may feel alone, wounded, and feel forgotten, that your heavenly Father loves you just as much as He loves this child. You are His special son or daughter. Speak your heart to Him today. Don’t go through this Christmas feeling down with no one to lift your head, because there is someone—your heavenly Father. Receive His love. Recognize it no matter what shape or size or what type of package it may come in. Father is a good father. He knows us better than we know ourselves. Let Him make this a special Christmas for you and embrace each moment He gives you in His Presence. I pray God’s richest love and blessing for you as you cast all your care onto our Heavenly Father, the one who knows every detail about your Christmas and you, and yes, is crazy in love with you! Thank you, Abba.
